If you’re just starting, you probably don’t know yet about the basics of photography. Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson explains the very basics about exposure (light), without getting to technical. After reading it, you should be able to understand exposure well enough to handle a DSLR camera manually.

About composition etc. I wouldn’t know. The most important thing about photography is having the eye for it, but that book explains why you should use certain techniques and what effect they have without getting too complicated to remember.

  1. I personally used “The Betterphoto Guide to Digital Photography” by Jim Miotke published by Amphoto. It was very clear and easy to use, without silly tips that some books have.

    Hope this helps! 🙂
